‘What an amazing place, we have thoroughly enjoyed our day. When we return to school, we will post some photos on our Facebook page to advertise this little gem of a museum to all our other local schools. Thank you for having us.’
– Year 1, Flimby Primary School.
We welcome all school visits and work with teachers to ensure pupils get a high-quality learning experience from our heritage displays, artefacts and fascinating Cumbrian history.
Learning is fun and from experience we know that exploring Millom’s heritage through visual art creates positive, interactive learning opportunities which are an invaluable addition to the school curriculum. From dressing up in traditional clothing, learning and creating their own poetry, to exploring the history of mining and the RAF there is so much to discover and learn.
All school visits to the Heritage and Arts Centre are free but must be pre-arranged. Please contact us to organise your school visit.
Information for teachers
Please inform us in advance of group visits of more than 10 people. This will ensure you have the best experience.
Group Supervision and Safety
Adult supervision is required at all times.
Please note that teachers are responsible for students’ behaviour and safety at all times. We can help you complete a health and safety risk assessment prior to your visit.
Please also be aware that Millom Heritage and Arts Centre is located on a fully operational railway station.
