Local MP Trudy Harrison is ‘excited’ after visiting revamped Centre
We were very excited to welcome our first visitor through the door today, and even more excited by their wonderful reaction to the work we’ve performing behind the scenes, ready to open our doors this summer.
Local MP Trudy Harrison visited us here at the newly re-branded Millom Heritage and Arts Centre for a sneaky peek at the work we’ve been doing, as part of her visit to the town.
She was delighted to see the changes we have made with thanks to the money received from the Cultural Recovery Fund and dedicated time of our trustees, staff and volunteers:
‘a revamped, exciting new museum will delight residents and visitors alike when it opens up again this summer‘
Trustees, staff and volunteers have worked incredibly hard through an incredibly tough year to bring the Centre out of the pandemic with a bright new future to look forward to. We are very grateful for the funding we’ve received and the incredible support of our local MP, town and volunteers. As Trudy noted, ‘Millom has a rich cultural history‘ and we want to ensure that the town’s heritage and art is remembered, treasured and re-visited for many years to come.
The best part is we’re not quite done yet! We’ve a few final tweaks to make before June to ensure the new look Heritage and Arts Centre is ready for all our wonderful visitors this summer and we are looking forward to sharing our transformation journey with you all.
For our regular visitors, don’t worry, we haven’t been throwing things out! As Trudy was keen to mention,
‘It was both a relief and pleasure to see the bread loaf and hot cross bun baked in 1869 and 1904 would remain a feature. Surely a record breaker!‘ – perhaps this is something we should look into?!
Keep checking our Facebook for regular updates and we look forward to opening our doors again very soon!
