We’ve survived the pandemic with a fresh new look and big plans for the future!
The last 12 months have been full of ups and down for the museum and ticket office we had months where closure was the main topic of conversations for us…
Thankfully last summer our luck finally changed. Firstly we secured Heritage Emergency Funding and a few months later our bid to The Arts Council Cultural Recovery Fund was successful.
Being closed for the last 12+ months along with the bids has really given the team of trustees, staff and volunteers time to reflect on the centre and what we are doing.
So once we re-open (17th May, if all goes to plan) you will notice a lot of great changes when visiting us.
The biggest change we have made is our name. The current one left visitors confused; they didn’t know what to expect or what it even meant! So going forward we will be ‘Millom Heritage & Arts Centre’. We feel this better describes the Centre’s vibes and helps both us and visitors to understand our vision for the future. Big thanks to Polska Design who worked with us to create our fab new branding and logo.
Continuing our new look, not only have we tidied up the outside of the building, we have worked really hard on updating the gift shop, displays and exhibits (no more pins and builders boards!). Watch this space for new colourful, bright, eye catching signage and modern display style! Thank you to KMC Graphix Ltd who created our new signage boards.
And finally, a new website! One that compliments our new look, our modern direction and a much more user friendly and informative hub of information to really promote the Centre, Millom and the heritage and arts we are proud to be a part of and display.
We will be continuing to update the Centre throughout the year and really can’t wait to welcome you through the doors again once it is safe to do so. We hope the new changes will revitalise all our local community spirit and support, draw in more visitors from the local area and country wide and develop our school visits programme.
